O sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done marvelous things! God’s right hand and holy arm have gotten the victory!
Psalm 98:1

March 1, 2008
Dear Friends,
Can you fathom that Easter is just around the corner? Yes, this year’s Easter falls in March, which is rather unusual. My biological clock is trying to get used to the idea of early Easter in our present winter weather. It feels too cold to even think about Easter. Easter is supposed to be celebrated in the warmer April month along with Spring flowers and green leaves, isn’t it?
Well, the more I think about it, though, it feels appropriate to celebrate Easter in our winter-like weather. The warmth of Easter will thaw not only our cold bodies but bring new life to our dark souls as well. While we were still in the winter of sin and darkness, God brought forth the ray of light through Jesus Christ.
On the cross at Calvary, Jesus died bearing our sin on his shoulder. On that first Easter morning, Jesus rose from the dead claiming victory over the power of sin and darkness.
So, with confidence and competence in God’s power, we can sing again: “Because he lives, we can face tomorrow. Because he lives, all fear is gone. Because I know he holds the future, life is worth living . . . because he lives.”
I certainly look forward to celebrating our Lord’s resurrection at Easter. It is my sincere prayer that as we journey to the cross and the empty tomb, all of us will come closer to his heart that says resounding “YES!” to our yearning, hopes and dreams.
God bless you and see you in church.
